We make our soaps using only natural plant-derived oils and butters, and only natural botanical and mineral additives for color and texture. No animal products or by-products, and no chemical detergents or preservatives.
We also use premium ingredients not found in commercially made soap – avocado oil, babassu oil, evening primrose oil, macadamia nut oil, jojoba oil, shea and mango butters, and pure essential oils. Each has unique skin care uses and benefits, and our soaps are formulated to bring you the best of what each has to offer. You will feel and see the difference!

- Saturday, November 22, 2008 (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) we are delighted to be invited back for the annual DIY Trunk Show featuring 200 Chicago-area craftspeople who personally create functional and decorative items in an incredible variety of media, from ceramics to textiles to paper, stone, metals, plastics & vinyl, glass, wood, jewelry – and yes, even soap! It's a wonderful opportunity to see how vibrant and varied Chicago's independent craft community is, and to purchase one-of-a-kind items you'll never be able to find anywhere else. Don't miss it! Same as last year, it'll be held at the Pulaski Park Auditorium, 1419 West Blackhawk, in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood.
- Saturday, December 8, 2008 (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) & Sunday, December 9, 2008 (9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) we return to the annual St. Gertrude's Parish Christmas Bazaar, a wonderfully eclectic combination of craft show and flea market. Last year there was everything from handmade clothing to Hmong tapestries, used books and other "garage sale" types of items, handmade Christmas ornaments, jewelry, gorgeous handmade quilts – and of course, wonderful handcrafted soaps! It's great fun for bargain hunters as well as craft aficionados. It's at 1401 West Granville, corner of Granville and Glenwood. Check it out!

Soap Makers Guild!
The Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild introduced its new soapmaker certification examination at the annual membership conference in April 2008, and we are very proud to announce that we passed with a perfect score! The test covers knowledge of soapmaking oils and additives, basic soapmaking chemistry, recipe formulation, and best practices in materials handling, manufacturing safety, and quality control. Our commitment is to be the best so we can bring you the best!
