is a committee of volunteer craft business owners who organize
the annual DIY Trunk

and host free quarterly networking and informational programs

First Chicago. Yes,
there
is such a movement! Who knew? But it makes a lot of
sense. Save gas. Stimulate the local
economy. And here's why
you might want to. Local businesses do more for the
communities in which they are located than national chain stores.

do more of their purchasing locally.
- They
contribute more to local non-profits.
- They
add to the character and diversity of their communities.
- They
are owned by people who live in the community.

website's local business directory is growing by the day. When I signed
up for a free listing a couple months ago, there were just two pages of
Edgewater businesses. Now there are six! I think this
is a
terrific resource.
